Let’s go shopping…
STYLE TRANSFORMATION PART SIX: Mattie, an adult educator is finding her ideal style. She examined her closet, let go of those pieces that weren't working and made a list of her needs. Now it is time to shop.
Underneath it all...
Even the best clothes will never look great without the right pieces underneath them… Our first visit was to a professional bra and foundation fitter.
Did you find this uncomfortable?
Mattie: “It was ok because I felt these professionals have an eye for what works and I didn't feel like I was on display. It really made a difference to work with someone who had experience and knew what flattered me.”
Shopping and more shopping.
How do you presently feel about shopping?
Mattie: "It is more fun-now that I have more awareness of what works for me. It is less intimidating. I have an idea of what I am looking for.”
Short term goals
Mattie choose five items from her “short term list” (you can see her needs lists in the previous blog post).
- 2 black skirts that were flattering
- An off-white wrap top
- A long gold sweater
- A cashmere sweater in a flattering wine color
Some of Mattie's comments about her choices:
Wine colored sweater: " I loved how it felt, warm, fuzzy, comfortable. It was great that it had long tie edges that flattered my hips.”
Black skirts: "I loved the skirts. They were the right
pieces and fit on the waist nicely as opposed to
hanging on the hips. These skirts can go with other
things."
Thinking about long term goals.
Have these goals in mind as you explore unusual sales and sites all year. Mattie may find that new Shabbos (Sabbath-dressy) coat at a sample sale in July. You can be creative if you are patient.
Putting the whole package together…
Now that we have found some great pieces, we now can address: -skin care
